5 Reasons To Love Fall In Ithaca

Alright, we all know that warm weather and sunshine rocks. But Fall is here, and it's one of the best times to be in Ithaca and the Finger Lakes.

Here are the 5 best reasons to be happy that Fall is coming:
1. Look At That View At The Taughannock Falls Overlook
The photo is from the State Parks website, but wow. Why would you not go there in October and November?
2. Leaf Peeping
Yes, we agree that leaf peeping makes us giggle (it just sounds funny), but it's so pretty to watch the leaves turn yellow, red, and orange. The leaves have already started to change in some of the more mountainous areas of New York, but from late September to late October, anywhere you go, you'll find a picturesque scene that will put a smile on your face.
3. Picking Apples
There are SO many great places to pick apples, and they are all close to Ithaca. Head over to Watkins Glen and visit Reisinger's Apple Country. Head up to Lansing to Baker's Acres. Indian Creek Farm is a good one up Route 96 north of Ithaca, too. I mean, check out this view!

4. The Cold, Crisp Air
How about a nice hike on the Cascadilla Gorge Trail? How about walking through the Ithaca Commons for the annual Apple Harvest Festival in October? How about doing both with a nice, warm sweater on?
5. FOOTBALL!

Check out a Cornell football game with an awesome pre-game tailgate party, and that Big Red Marching Band!
Or, head to the South Hill and go watch the Ithaca Bombers! One pretty cool note about the team this year -- their quarterback is the son of Syracuse University Head Coach Scott Shafer.
And, if you don't mind a short drive, you can head up to Cortland to see the Red Dragons play. It's their first season in the Empire 8 (Ithaca College's league), so that November 14th Cortaca Jug game will take on even more meaning this year!
